Lock replacement
Home lock replacement when the hardware has had its day
Worn locks, locks damaged in a break-in, or hardware you simply want upgraded. New locks are fitted, aligned and tested so they work smoothly with your door — not just bolted on.

When replacement is the right call
- The lock was forced, pried or drilled in a break-in or attempted break-in
- Keys stick or need jiggling even after cleaning and lubrication
- The deadbolt is a light-duty model with a short bolt
- Exterior hardware is corroded from years of winter weather and road salt
- You want a different style, a keypad or a smart lock
Fitting matters as much as the lock
A good lock badly installed is a weak lock. Backset (the distance from the door edge to the center of the bore), door thickness, and the alignment of bolt and strike all decide whether a lock works smoothly for years or starts binding in a month. Replacement includes checking those, adjusting the strike, and using longer screws into the frame where the existing ones are short.
Replacement locks can be keyed to match your other doors at the same visit, so you do not end up with a separate key for every lock.

Common questions
Do you supply the new locks?
Yes, or you can supply your own. If you supply them, check the backset and door thickness on the box against your door first.
Can the new lock use the same key as my other doors?
Usually, yes — the new cylinder can be pinned to match, provided the keyway is compatible.
How do I know if I need a new lock or just a repair?
If the lock has been forced or the internals are worn, replacement is usually better. If it only binds or will not latch, a repair or strike adjustment may solve it.
